Sneaky Pence by emmil Sneaky Pence by emmil
Pence's getting more & more brave and curious everyday...
If you have a non tamed lovebird, try to stand close with him but don't look at him. Ignore his existences. Let his curiosity get the better of him. Don't pay attention at what he does like when he has started pulling your cloth, or preened your hair, else you will scare him away... ;)

You're making good progress! We did that with our Jo Jo, and it worked like a charm. Now she gloms on to us like birdie velcro! lol

Yes, she does. :) And when she was barely tame and very shy I couldn't keep her on my shoulder or finger for long before she would burrow in my hair and make little chirpy sounds. It was so cute but it tickled! And when her wings were clipped I could take her to a store and she was mostly unnoticeable until my hair would chirp. Now she can fly so I kinda miss that, but she lands on my head all the time. She also likes to play with my poodle's hair, which alarms him every time :XD:

How many times do you let her play out of the cage? :D

A few times a day... whenever Chica wants to come out, I can tell and that's usually when I get her out. It's when she's chirping and gesturing to the door. I know that sounds weird, but it's what she does. She needs to fly around a few times a day to not go insane. And always first thing after her cage is uncovered in the morning. After some time she'll get sleepy and that's when she likes to be in her cage. Often I have her out in the living room for hours while we watch TV or something, and she is treated like one of the family. She likes that, being part of a group and independent. But as she is a bird, it makes total sense.
She likes to tag along with me as I do almost anything- be it cleaning her cage, sitting at the computer, cleaning my room, reading a book (see? [link]) and the other day she sat on my shoulder the entire time I vacuumed, chirping all the way. Our vacuum is extremely loud, and our dog is afraid of it, but not a tiny bird.
Sometimes I teach her tricks, and so far she knows up, down, come, stay, tunnel (through a cardboard tube), ladder, jump through the ring, and poop. Yes, I taught her to poop in my garbage. Working on fetch currently ;)
Sorry this reply is so long. She's really special to me.

as long as she can poop in the garbage, it'll be an ideal life for a pet bird :D

Like a boss! When you get his full trust again are you gonna work on Taming him?

and yes, I'll try to tame him whenever I can when the time is right, but I won't bother teaching any of my birds some parrot tricks. As long as they are tamed enough for me to inspect their healths, that will be enough. :)
